Recommended Routes to Tibet from Malaysia for Foreign Tourists
Until December 31, 2025, Malaysian tourists can enjoy a 30-day visa-free policy in China. All you need is a Malaysian passport with a validity of more than 6 months. With the assistance of our travel agency, obtaining a Tibet Travel Permit will be very easy, saving you both time and money. Despite the approximately 3,152-kilometer straight-line distance between Malaysia and Tibet, getting to Tibet has never been more convenient. Let's explore the best routes to make your Tibetan adventure come true.
Flight Routes
Unfortunately, there are no direct flights from Malaysia to Tibet. But don't worry, there are excellent alternative routes with layovers in Chinese cities.
One of the quickest options is to start your journey from Kuala Lumpur and transfer in Chengdu. Sichuan Airlines operates this route, and the total flight time is around 11 hours.
If you're looking for a more budget-friendly option, consider flights with transfers in Nanjing and Kunming. This route, operated by China Eastern Airlines, are the cheapest available. Although the journey takes approximately 16 hours, the cost-effectiveness might be well worth the extra travel time.

Train Routes
Another exciting way to reach Tibet is by combining a flight and a train journey. You can take a Sichuan Airlines flight directly to Chengdu Tianfu Airport, which takes about 4.5 hours. Currently, there are daily direct flights on this route. Alternatively, Xiamen Airlines offers flights to Chongqing's airport, also with a flight time of around 4.5 hours and daily services.

Then, both Chengdu and Chongqing have trains to Tibet every other day, and they complement each other. If there's no train from Chengdu on a particular day, Chongqing will have one, and vice versa. The train journey from either city to Tibet takes about 33–34 hours. The trains usually depart in the evening, around 9 o'clock, and arrive in Lhasa in the morning, allowing you to enjoy the picturesque scenery along the Qinghai-Tibet Railway.

Conclusion
The routes recommended above are designed with your convenience in mind. In fact, there are many other gateway cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. These cities are not only convenient for transit but also offer a wealth of attractions for you to explore before heading to Tibet. Share your preferences and desires with us, and we will customize a private and exclusive Tibet travel transportation plan just for you!

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
