Tibet Travel by Train or Flight from China’s Major Cities
Tibet is a sacred and mysterious land, surrounded by snow-capped mountains and full of devout faith. Due to its high altitude, it is called the closest place to heaven. When you decide to embark on a journey to Tibet, you will start to think about whether to take a train or fly to Tibet. Actually, both ways have their own advantages, and which to choose depends on the specific situation. Here is a list of the advantages of trains and airplanes for your reference.
4 Reasons to Take a Train to Tibet
1. Appreciate Beautiful Passing Scenery
The train is equipped with large windows for you to enjoy the scenery along the way. You can sit in a comfortable seat, drinking beverages while enjoying the constantly changing view outside the window, which adds a lot of fun. For example, when the train passes through the Tanggula Pass, you can enjoy the majestic view of the snow-capped mountains.
2. Learn about the local culture in China
You will take a train from a city in China to Tibet. If you happen to know some Chinese, it is a great opportunity to interact with fellow passengers and train staff. These people may come from different regions, including local Tibetan residents. By talking to them, you can learn about Tibetan customs, religious beliefs, and so on.
3. Enjoy Affordable Prices with Excellent Services
The price of the train ticket is lower than that of the airplane. Besides, the train to Tibet is usually equipped with basic medical facilities and professional medical staff. The oxygen supply system on the train can provide sufficient oxygen for passengers in need, alleviating the discomfort caused by altitude sickness. The train carriages have relatively large spaces, allowing you to move around freely and stretch your body. And the trains also offer catering services.
4. Protect the Environment
Taking a train with lower carbon emissions is an environmentally friendly way to travel to Tibet. Reducing the emission of the pollutants can help maintain the original appearance of Tibetan ecological environment.
3 Reasons to Take an Airplane to Tibet
1. Save Time
The flying speed of an airplane is much faster than that of a train. There are frequent direct flights from China’s major cities to enter Tibet. For example, if traveling from a distant city in China to Tibet, such as Shanghai, it only takes about 6 hours.
2. Comfortable Cabin Environment
You can spend your travel time in a relatively quiet and smooth environment. Ease your mind by reading books or watching movies on an airplane
3. Overlook the Magnificent Scenery
When the plane flies over the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, you can admire endless snow-capped mountain ranges, such as the Himalayas and the Gangdise Mountains. The visual impact brought by this unique high-altitude perspective is unmatched by ground transportation.
