Tibet's Stargazing: Visiting the Ngari Dark Sky Park
Standing at 4,700 meters above sea level, the Ngari Dark Sky Park is an awesome place of witnessing one of the clearest night skies on Earth, this remote corner of Tibet promises a celestial spectacle like no other.
Getting There: A Journey Through Tibet's Soul
Your adventure starts in Lhasa, the heart of Tibet. Spend 2–3 days here exploring the majestic Potala Palace, sipping sweet butter tea, and letting your body adapt to the altitude. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself in Tibetan culture before venturing further.
From Lhasa, the road to Ngari unfolds like a living painting. Vast grasslands gradually give way to stark deserts, and if you're lucky, you might spot Tibetan gazelles darting across the highway. The journey itself—whether by private car or small group tour—is part of the magic. Along the way, you'll pass Yamdrok Lake, a turquoise gem nestled among mountains, and even detour to Everest Base Camp for a glimpse of the world's highest peak.

Why Ngari's Stars Shine Brighter
At 4,700 meters, Ngari's elevation is the secret behind its unparalleled stargazing. Here, the atmosphere is 40% thinner than at sea level, meaning starlight passes through with minimal distortion. You can witness a sky so clear that even faint constellations appear vivid to the naked eye.
What's more, light pollution is virtually nonexistent. With over 85% of nights cloud-free, especially during the prime seasons of April–May and September–October, your chances of catching the Milky Way in all its glory are incredibly high. Unlike other stargazing spots where weather can disappoint, Ngari delivers consistency alongside beauty.

Best Time to Visit the Ngari Dark Sky Park
Spring (April–May) brings mild days and nights alive with the sounds of Tibetan foxes and the sight of rare pink rhododendrons blooming across the plateau. If your trip coincides with Saga Dawa Festival in April, you'll witness locals hanging prayer flags and spinning prayer wheels—a cultural bonus to your stargazing adventure.
Autumn (September–October) offers equally stunning skies, with the added charm of harvest season. The air is crisp, the Milky Way' intricate details are vividly visible, and the scent of ripe barley fills the daytime breeze.

Practical Tips for Foreign Travelers
As a foreign visitor, you'll need Tibet Travel Permit, Aliens' Travel Permit, and Military Permit to explore Ngari. But don't let the paperwork deter you—this is where a licensed Tibet travel agency becomes your best ally.
Conclusion
Ready to chase the stars? We're here to take you there.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
