China Tibet Visa for Indian Citizens

Like other international tourists, for Indian citizens or Indian passport holders, the first priority is to get Tibet Visa (also known as Tibet Travel Permit, Tibet Permit).

And believe me, the whole process is not as difficult as you think.

The Indian travelers with an Indian passport are generally categorized into 3 types when traveling to Tibet:

The first type: the ordinary Indian citizens who travel to Tibet for visiting the places other than Ali prefecture (Mt.Kailash) get the Tibet Visa and proceed their tours like the usual foreign travelers from all over the world.

The other is the great number of Indian pilgrims who come to Tibet mainly for pilgrimage around Mt.Kailash and Lake Manasarovar. In reality, however, as long as Indian travelers who want to travel to Mt. Kailash for pilgrimage or go via Ali prefecture, even if not for religious purposes, they will be treated as pilgrims.

The third type is the American Indian with a U.S. passport, you won’t be regarded as a pilgrim, even if you go to Mt. Kailash for pilgrimage.
