How to Apply for a Tibet Travel Permit as an Indian 2026
Every year, countless Indian travelers, including many pilgrims, make their way to this incredible region. Visiting Tibet as an Indian citizen is more straightforward than you might think! While the process requires some specific planning and the right permits, this guide will walk you through something essential you need to know for your 2026 journey!
If your Tibet trip is centered on visiting sacred spots like Mount Kailash and Manasarovar Lake, there's one important rule: only the Foreign Affairs Office of the Tibet Autonomous Region (TAR) and Pilgrim Center can handle your travel formalities. No other travel agencies have the authority to process permits for these specific locations. This is to ensure your pilgrimage is smooth, safe, and compliant with local regulations, so you can focus on your spiritual journey without hiccups.

If you're planning to explore other amazing parts of Tibet like Lhasa, Shigatse, or Namtso Lake, our Tibet-based travel agency can help you get your Tibet Travel Permit! Just remember you can't apply for this permit on your own, and solo travel in Tibet isn't allowed for foreign visitors. You need a licensed Chinese travel agency to handle the process. We'll help you plan a detailed itinerary that we submit to the Tibet Tourism Bureau for approval. All you need to send us are scans of your valid Indian passport and your Chinese visa. Once approved, we'll make sure you get the permit in time for your Tibet trip.

If you're an Indian but hold a foreign passport and wish to visit Mount Kailash or Manasarovar, our agency has all the expertise to help. In fact, the application process is essentially the same as what we offer Indian passport holders who aren't traveling to these two sacred sites. We'll guide you through every step, from planning your itinerary to submitting the necessary documents. You'll still need to provide scans of your passport and Chinese visa.
If you're flying or driving into Tibet from Nepal, there's one extra document you'll need: a Chinese Group Visa. But if you're entering Tibet from a mainland Chinese city (such as Beijing, Shanghai, or Chengdu), you won't need the group visa—just your regular Chinese visa and Tibet Travel Permit. Our team will confirm which documents you need based on your entry point, so you never miss a thing.

Conclusion
Bring us your idea for Tibet. We'll bring you to Tibet. We're ready when you are.

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
