Should You Visit Tibet in June? Pros & Cons
June is absolutely one of the best times to visit Tibet. This month isn't just a great time to avoid the peak summer crowds; it often aligns with one of Tibet's most sacred festivals: the Saga Dawa Festival, held on the 15th of the fourth Tibetan month. It's a deeply spiritual, culturally rich experience that will lift your spirits amid Tibet's sacred landscapes.
Pros of Visiting Tibet in June
First, the weather is a huge plus! June brings mild temperatures to Tibet, with daytime averages ranging from 10°C to 25°C—ideal for exploring outdoor spots without the swelter of July or the chill of early spring. In Lhasa, daytime highs hover around 20–25°C, perfect for wandering the Potala Palace's grounds or strolling along Barkhor Street without layers of warm clothes. Nights cool down to around 10°C, so a light jacket is all you need for evening walks.
Early June also means minimal rain—before the monsoon hits full force. The first two weeks see mostly sunny days, which is beneficial for activities like trekking around Mount Kailash or visiting Everest Base Camp. Clear skies mean unobstructed views of snow-capped peaks and crystal-clear lakes, plus great photo opportunities.

Nature is at its most vibrant in June, too. Damxung Grassland turns lush green, dotted with wildflowers, and you might spot yaks grazing or local nomads' tents scattered across the plains. Lakes like Namtso are at their clearest, making shoreline walks even more attractive.
Another big pro? There are fewer tourists than July and August. You won't have to wait in long lines. This means more time to chat with local monks, learn about Tibetan traditions, or simply soak in the quiet beauty of places like Lake Manasarovar.
Moreover, June is easier on your wallet. Hotels in Lhasa and other towns are 20–30% cheaper than in peak season, and Tibet overland tour or car rental prices drop by around 15%. Even hard-to-get Tibet train tickets are more available.

Cons of Visiting Tibet in June
While June is great, it's not without small hurdles. Late June brings the start of the monsoon, especially in southern Tibet and eastern areas like Nyingchi. Though Rain is usually short-lived, it might make dirt roads muddy. So if you're doing a remote tour, check road conditions first.
As summer arrives, the clouds in Tibet become thinner, allowing stronger sunlight to penetrate. The ultraviolet radiation becomes more intense, so it's crucial to take sun protection measures seriously. Remember to bring high-SPF sunscreen, UV-protective sunglasses, and a hat to shield yourself from the strong rays.

Conclusion
What are you waiting for? Start planning your journey to Tibet in June and get ready!

plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April
Hi! I would like to plan a 7-8days trip for me and my boyfriend in April (3rd to 10th ideally) to Nepal, Tibet, and, if possible, Bhutan. Do you think it would be doable? Based on what I read, there are some places/things to do to consider: Nepal: Everest Base Camp trek and the Annapurna Circuit, ancient temples, sacred sites like Lumbini, Kathmandu, Tibet: The Potala Palace in Lhasa and the Jokhang Temple. eventually the holy Mount Kailash or the high-altitude plains. Bhutan: Thimphu, Paro, and the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery. To take part in cultural traditions, yoga, meditation... Of course I am open to any recommendations you could make. For your reference, we are both based in Asia: him, in Bangkok and myself in Macau. Thank you so much for the information you could provide and, if possible, an estimated budget for your offer.
