Overview & Highlights of this Trip

This 8-day tour from Lhasa to Everest Base Camp is an adventure of a lifetime. In Lhasa, in addition to exploring the majestic Potala Palace, you’ll delve into the lives of modern Tibetan monks at the largest monasteries in Tibet. On the journey to the Everest Base Camp, you will visit a local Tibetan family in a village near the picturesque Yamdrok Lake, having lunch with them and enjoying a serene lakeside stroll with their flocks of sheep.

In the Himalayan region, we have exclusively selected four viewpoints for you to admire Mt.Everest from different locations. You will spend a night at the Everest Base Camp, witnessing the sunset and sunrise over the Everest, as well as the stars gracefully arching across the night sky.

As the successive award-winning EBC tour operator in Tibet, our attentive and multi-lingual Tibetan guide, deeply passionate about the history and landscapes of his/her homeland, will not only immerse you in the traditional life of Tibet but also take you to see the REAL Tibet through his/her eyes.

To ensure a hassle-free experience, we provide a complimentary Tibet Travel Permit and flexible travel solutions. Our continually updated hotel choices cater to your comfort. Don't worry about high altitudes – if our little 4-year-old guest and an 84-year-old German granddad can safely navigate our itinerary, so can you.

The average altitude of Kailash Kora is about 5,000m, with the highest point of Drolma La Pass at 5,630m above sea level. It is dangerous for you to travel to such a high-altitude area. Please consult your doctor for a professional opinion on this.

Are you able to move around freely in Lhasa?

A guided tour is required for a foreigner to enter and leave Lhasa. But once I am there, am I allowed to explore the city on my own, or am I required to be accompanied by a tour guide at all times? Once all group activities are finished, it's nice to have some alone time and walk around

Dear Eismont: Thanks for getting in touch. Well, according to the travel policies of the Tibet Tourism Bureau for foreign nationals visiting Tibet, you can only visit Tibet through a guided tour. However, this does not mean that your guide will be by your side all day long. Every day after your itinerary is finished, you can have some privacy, exploring the surroundings of your hotel or savoring the local cuisine in the local restaurant, etc.

I am planning to travel by train though much of China in September and October of 2024. I am a budget traveler and will be by myself. I will enter China from Kazakhstan by bus from Almaty to Urumqi. I want to travel by train from Xining to Lhasa, leaving Xining on September 9, 2024 and return by train on September 12, 2024. I have applied for a China Visa but haven't received it yet.

Thank you for reaching out! Great, after you've received your Chinese visa, you just need to email your passport information page and Chinese visa page to our travel agent, together with your confirmed Tibet travel itinerary, and then we will help you apply for a Tibet Travel Permit for free and do our best to secure the Tibet train ticket for you since the Xnining-Lhasa train is one of the highly sought-after tickets to Tibet and is always in short supply. Make sure you submit these documents to us 20 days before you depart from Xining to Lhasa. After we've got your Tibet Travel Permit, we will manage to deliver it to your hotel or at the train station as planned.
